Among the common species of the Eastern United States are {Lepomis gibbosus} (called also {bream}, {pondfish}, {pumpkin seed}, and {sunny}), the blue sunfish, or dollardee ({Lepomis pallidus}), and the long-eared sunfish ({Lepomis auritus}).
