   magical appearance, demon, trolla to use magic arts, enchant,
   Dan. trold elf, imp, Icel. tr["o]ll giant, magician, evil

   Queer, and fitted to provoke laughter; ludicrous from oddity;
   amusing and strange.

        persons or things which excite laughter by their
