Try out precision farming equipment and software at the 2004 Kansas Agricultural Technology Field Day in Salina, KS, on August 10. Martens Farms of Inman, Kansas, will demonstrate "Guidance and In-Cab (or On-Foot) Record-Keeping" using Farm Works Software, EZ-Guide Plus guidance system, and an iPAQ PDA with a Transplant GPS card. Inman, KS -- July 19, 2004 -- Martens Farms will demonstrate "Guidance and In-Cab (or On-Foot) Record-Keeping" at the Kansas Agricultural Technology Field Day in Salina, KS, on August 10. Both a laptop PC and iPAQ (PDA) will be used with GPS systems (from Ag Leader, Trimble, and Transplant) and Farm Works Software. Driving demonstrations will show how this software and hardware work together for easy agricultural guidance, record-keeping, mapping, and data logging. Participants will see how the Martens use the newly integrated Trac Mate and Site Mate software to simplify recording farm activities and information while "on the go."
This Field Day is sponsored by K-State Research and Extension, the Kansas Agricultural Research Association and several prominent companies, including Martens Farms. The goal of the annual event is to educate crop producers and agribusiness about the potential benefits of agricultural technologies and to help address some of the concerns regarding precision agriculture.
Anyone considering precision agriculture technologies for their farm should attend this event. It has been designed to be “hands-on” and very applied in nature.
