In Uganda, Farmers used to discard the residues of coconut and palm fruits' after eating the contents.  However, they are fast realizing the potential to generate revenues selling the residues as grow media for use in hydroponics applications.

Uganda's flower farmers are improving their yields by utilizing hydroponics.  A lot of these flowers are in demand in the UK and farmers are looking for new ways to meet the demand and provide quality products.

In some farms, table-like brick structures are built in greenhouses and filled with either coconut or palm fruit residues.  A computer controlled feeding system is then set in place to keep plants healthy year-round.
